Permanent Make Up Preparation and Aftercare

Small Details Make a BIG Difference What to do Before & After your Permanent Makeup Procedure

Preparation

DISCONTINUE the use of retinols, alpha hydroxy acids, chemical peels and anything that will basically make you peel.

Shaving, waxing, tweezing, or any hair removal services should be completed no sooner than 7 days prior to procedure.

No tinting of eyebrows 3 days before procedure

Do not drink alcohol, take blood thinners (aspirin), fish oils, caffeine, or anything that can thin your blood or raise your blood pressure, for 24-48 hours prior to your microblading session.

Do not tan (excludes spray tans) two weeks prior or have a sunburned face

No facials 2 weeks prior to procedure

Do not work out on the day of your procedure.

No botox sooner than 3 weeks prior to treatment

Do not take fish oil or vitamin E for 3 days prior to procedure.

In order to avoid excessive bleeding and poor pigment deposit:

Do not drink alcohol 24 - 48 hours before your tattoo

Do not consume coffee or any caffeine before your procedure

Do not take an aspirin or ibuprofen for pain relief (this thins the blood)

The day of the treatment

Gently blot the area with a clean tissue to absorb excess lymph fluid. Do this every 15 minutes, or when your brows feel ‘wet’. It is imperative that you blot the excess lymph for the full day until oozing has stopped.  Removing this fluid prevents hardening of the lymph which could in turn make for poor color deposit.

Days 1-7: Wash

Wash daily to remove bacteria and dead skin. (Don't worry...THIS DOES NOT REMOVE THE PIGMENT!)

Gently wash the area twice a day with water and an antibacterial soap like Dial Soap, Cetaphil ( included in your aftercare kit) or Neutrogena. With a very light touch, use your fingertips to gently cleanse the affected area. Rub the area in a smooth motion for 10 seconds and rinse with water ensuring that all soap is rinsed away. To dry, gently pat with a clean tissue. DO NOT use any cleansing products containing acids (glycolic, lactic, or AHA), or any exfoliants.

Days 1-7: Moisturize

Apply the included aftercare ointment and spread it across the treated area. Be sure not to over-apply as this will suffocate your skin and delay healing. The ointment should be barely noticeable on the skin. Never put the ointment on a wet or damp tattoo.

Important Reminders

· DO NOT rub, pick or scratch the treated area. You may tap to relieve any itchiness.

· Use a fresh pillowcase

· Let any scabbing or dry skin naturally exfoliate away. Picking can cause scarring or loss of color

· No facials, botox, chemical treatments or microdermabrasion for 4 weeks

· Avoid hot, sweaty exercise for one week

· Avoid direct sun exposure or tanning for 4 weeks after the procedure. Wear a hat when outdoors.

· Avoid heavy sweating and long hot showers for the first 10 days.

· Avoid sleeping on your face for the first 10 days

· Avoid swimming, lakes, hot tubs for the first 10 days

· Avoid topical makeup including sunscreen on the area

Lash Extension Preparation and Care

How to Prepare for your Lash Appointment

 Shower prior to your appointment.

Eliminating any unnecessary contact with water or steam within the first 48 hours will insure that the bond between the semi permanent lashes and your natural lashes has enough time to properly set.

Wear comfortable clothing.

You will  lay  down for 60 to 120 minutes with dimmed lights and soft music as your backdrop during your eyelash application, comfortable clothes will allow you to make the most of this time to relax and be pampered.

Remove your contacts.

Your eyes will be closed during the application of your eyelash extensions,  to avoid any discomfort, it is always suggested that contacts are removed allowing eyes to be comfortable in a natural and rested state.

Turn off your cellphone just prior to your appointment.

This is truly a time to sit back and relax. ringing cellphones will only interrupt your treatment. Enjoy the “me” time, and let your lash transformation begin.

Things To Avoid

Avoid Wearing Makeup.

Makeup products worn close to the eye will need to be removed prior to the lash application process. Coming to your appointment with a clean face will save time and eliminate the need for you lash stylist to remove your eye makeup.

Avoid face creams or sunblock to the eye area.

The oils within many moisturizers and sunblock can prevent the eyelash glue from properly adhering to your natural lashes, dramatically reducing the longevity of your eyelash extensions.

Please No Mascara

Lashes must be fresh and clean in order to be properly prepped to receive eye lash extension.  no mascara!

Avoid or Remove large or dangly earrings.

The lash application process requires you to lay with your head propped on a comfortable support pillow. Large or dangly earrings can often get in the way making it difficult for you to remain comfortable during the complete application time.

Avoid curling your lashes on the day of your lash application.

We need your eyelashes to be in the most natural and healthy state they can prior to your lash extension application.  please do not curl your eyelashes, or use any other manipulation on them the day of your appointment.

Aftercare

For great retention and healthy lashes cleansing is a must. It is recommended that lashes get a bath a few times a week to remove built up dirt and debris. Its also ensures that your lashes are safe from harmful bacteria that can build up at the base of the lash.

Daily brushing is also necessary to keep them tangle free and fluffy

Spray tan Preparation And Aftercare

Spray Tan Preparation

  • Exfoliate your body 2 to 3 days before your tan and shave the day before.
  • Put Lotion on to moisturize skin everyday leading up to your spray tan, but not the day of(moisturized skin makes for an even and long-lasting tan).
  • If you need manicures, pedicures, waxing and/or, massages schedule that appointment at least 24 hours before your spray tan.

Day of your Spray

  • On the day of your tan DO NOT use lotion, deodorant, perfume. If you do, just remove before your session.
  • Showers should be no less that 3 hours prior to your tan .
  • If you want your face spayed make sure you do not have make-up on.
  • Wear or bring with you dark, loose-fitting clothes for after your tan! Long sleeve light shirts and loose lounge pants are best. Shorts or tanks tops can cause oversaturation in the creases.
  • The cosmetic bronzer on the tan may rub off slightly but, will easily wash out of most fabrics. Do not wear jeans or tight pants after the spray tan is applied.
  • Wear open sandals or thongs to your tanning appointment- no socks or sneakers!

Before Your First Shower

  • Do not get wet or sweaty before you are due to wash off your tan (be careful washing off your hands). Any splashes will make it run and that area will not process to its full ability.
  • Do not put any products on your skin before your first shower as it will ruin your tan.
  • Use baby powder in areas prone to sweat during the developing will help reduce moisture and patchiness.

First Shower

  • When you have your first shower or rinse, don’t use any soap or body wash and don’t use a loofah. Just let the water run over your body to rinse the tanning solution from your skin
  • You will notice a lot of color washing off, do not worry, that is just the cosmetic bronzers in the solution.

Post Tan Instructions

  • You will not be able to get wet or sweat until you rinse 3-8 hours(depending on your desired color) after your tan.
  • After your first rinse/shower keep your skin moisturized with lotion!! Lotion will be your best friend. Use it every day, especially after swimming, working out or, showering.
  • Your tan will gradually fade until your next exfoliation and tanning session. Drier skin exfoliates quicker so, moisturizing is essential to keeping your tan alive. I recommend Colour Me Bronze’s Tan extender. It helps the life of your tan and can double as a gradual self-tanner. You can purchase this at your appointment. You can also use Palmers Cocoa butter
  • You will see color washing off the first time you shower, this is just the bronzing agent and not your tan.
  • Pat yourself dry after rinsing or showering, do not rub dry.

Ongoing Aftercare

  • Try not to take scorching hot showers. Doing so will cause the skin to exfoliate faster, which will result in a patchy tan.
  • Use sulfate free soap or body wash and moisturizer. Sulfate is the enemy for all fake tans as it will strip the tan quicker and cause patchiness.
  • Do not exfoliate with any scrubs or loofas
  • Avoid soaking in baths, swimming, or any excessive exercising that would induce excessive sweating as that will affect the life of your tan.
  • Moisturize!!!! Proper hydration will extend the life of your tan. I recommend Colour Me Bronze’s Tan extender. It helps the life of your tan and can double as a gradual self tanner. You can also use Palmers Cocoa butter
  • Hair removal creams and waxing will ruin your tan. If you must shave- use a sharp razor and gently glide over the desired area.
  • Avoid loofa and exfoliating body washes while you have your tan!
  • Chlorine will shorten the length of your tan so, avoid swimming pools and Jacuzzis following your session.
